IMPHAL: The MoS Union for Agribusiness Industries and Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel on Saturday launched seven indigenous food products in the former conference hall of the former secretariat in Imphal.
Food items include black rice laddoo, black rice nut and fruit cookies, hot and spicy bhujia, mixed kabok, Manipur casava barfi, bamboo shoot murabba, and fig laddoo. .
Speaking at the reception, Patel said, “All over the world, we have a strong demand for Indian products, including those from the northeastern states. However, our main concern is to maintain the high quality of the manufactured items, which is also the expectation of consumers.
Emphasizing the importance of proper packaging, branding and marketing of manufactured items, Patel commended Manipur Food Industries Corporation Limited (MFICL) for the quality packaging of newly launched food products.
The Union Minister said that a strong message against compromising with product quality should be shared with clusters and individuals involved in the management of food processing companies.
Food processing is a priority area for the prime minister, he said, adding that the materials available in the northeast come mainly from the hills and the forest, and the products of these materials are in great demand in the region. inside and outside the country.
However, these products still require certain requirements, including the registration of scientific and detailed information on the products, branding, marketing and transportation, he added.
The Minister of Textile, Trade and Industry, Thongam Biswajit Singh, said: “The MFICL was an unprecedented sector in the Department of Trade and Industry in the past, but today, thanks to concerted efforts of the people involved, everyone knows that.
“What we are doing today will help make the dreams of the Honorable Prime Minister and the Honorable Chief Minister come true. The product launched today is just the start, ”he said.
Declaring that unemployment is a big challenge, he said: “We have to provide jobs for our young people. MFICL Managing Director Peter Salam said that food labeling and packaging is done in Imphal, Delhi and Mumbai to achieve fine branding and attractive presentation.
